FAQ

Who are you?

My name is Miss! Well, my actual name is Uliana (pronounced oo-lee-yah-nah). You can just call me Miss, though! I’m studying to be a primary-school teacher. My passion is English and Literature. You can find out more in my ‘About Me’ section!

What are your qualifications?

I graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2020. I completed a Bachlelor of Arts degree (Psychology major, English and Theatre Studies minor). I’ve been working as a tutor for children aged 5 to 18 for 5 years. From 2016 to 2019, I was a private piano tutor. From 2019 onwards, I have been working as an English tutor for a noted tutoring organisation. There, I teach verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, and essay writing. I have much to learn, but if my students’ comments are any indication, I’m well on my way to becoming a good teacher!

What is this website for?

Mostly English is a personal project of mine. Having taught many students, I gradually realised how much time we’d all save if I collected all of my created resources and made them public! Perhaps the content I make could even help strangers. That’d be wonderful!

Also, I needed an outlet for all of my English-related rambles. πŸ™‚

Who drew your avatar?

Oh, you must mean this one!

She’s adorable, isn’t she? She was drawn by the talented Kagebonito! You can find him on Instagram at @kagebonito and on Twitter at kagebonito.

Who drew the blog’s cat mascots?

An artist at Chanut is Industries drew them! I downloaded the pictures and license to display them from Envato Elements. The license I downloaded allows me to display them on this blog for educational, non-profit purposes. Please let me know if there are any issues regarding fair use.

In the book reviews, you sometimes mention that a friend recommended the book to you. Who are these friends?

They’re just that: friends! Basically, I ask around my social groups to find new books to review. I ask them what books they loved as a child and why. To protect their privacy, I ask them to give me a codename (e.g. ‘Maple’). To prove that they’re real people, I also ask them to record themselves saying their codenames so I can add it to the post’s narration. I am so grateful to every single one of my friends who have taken the time to help me and this website! πŸ™‚

Who made the Animal Crossing-ish avatars for your friends?

I made them using this amazing Animal Crossing Mayor Maker by kyoosh! It’s totally free and very fun (especially if you love Animal Crossing like I do!).

Who created the 20-minute calming music on the sidebar?

That would be the wonderful Aaron Goldberg! He’s an extraordinarily talented musician who often streams live music on Twitch (I recommend this channel for older students and adults, as it sometimes involves swearing). He also happens to be incredibly kind and I cannot recommend him enough! You can find his album ‘i don’t know’ on Spotify and Bandcamp. Aaron has given me permission to use this loop on this blog! πŸ™‚

Are you avaliable to teach my child?

Possibly! It depends on your location and what exactly you’d like me to teach (general English, VCE English subjects, selective exam preperation etc.). I primarily teach online, considering current circumstances. I currently have 2 private students and 4 weekend groups of 5-30 students. Please contact me using the info in my ‘Contact me!’ section.
